Abstract :
Scaling and roundoff noise in block implementations of multirate filters are examined. Relationships between the dynamic range of the state variables, roundoff noise, the ratio of serial input and serial output sample rates, and the choice of the block length are investigated. Procedures for l2scaling, and measures for resultant roundoff noise in parallel normal forms and optimal state-space forms are provided.
