Abstract :
Multirate PRMA, a TDMA access protocol to support controlled soft capacity for cellular systems, is proposed. Network congestion is handled by reducing the effective bandwidth allocated to active users. This extra bandwidth is used for access contention by new talkspurts, thus preventing traffic induced blocking. The details and the performance for a dual-rate system are presented
