Abstract :
A pulse-shaping technique is demonstrated using optical switching of CW phase-modulated light in a nonreciprocal Sagnac interferometer. The high birefringent fibre in the interferometer provides phase bias between counter-propagating fields to achieve the switching. It is shown that short optical pulses can be generated from a single frequency input signal
