Lasers in material processing are powerful, flexible and precise and they are now widely used in many industrial sectors. The applications that are grouped together as material processing include cutting, drilling, welding and marking on a range of materials. All these applications use the power of the laser beam to change the workpiece. Lower-power applications are routinely used in inspection, measurement and test.
