Abstract :
Using the equation error formulation, transitional formulas are developed that provide solutions to the ARMA modeling problem when given solutions to either the AR or MA models. These formulas are useful in estimating ARMA models, and they also provide insight into how the more general ARMA modeling problem is related to the special cases of AR and MA modeling.
