We have predicted and measured tuning of the LO and TO oblique Raman and the oblique polarition frequencies in the 769-848 cm
-1spectral region in lithium iodate. Oblique scattering in LiIO
3is produced by coupling of

and

symmetry crystal modes. The resulting LO and TO frequencies lie between the frequencies of the contributing modes. The intensity of the scattered light observed indicates that construction of CW or quasi-CW stimulated oblique Raman and polariton oscillators are possible.
