Abstract
The effect of the prestress introduced during the coil winding process is analyzed and demonstrated in one practical example. Prestress introduced during coil winding makes a significant contribution to the coils in the elastic state. However, when the coil is plastically deformed, a high winding stress enhances the plastic deformation by plastic unloading at high field levels
