Abstract :
Urban and rural areas differ vastly in their demands on the radio spectrum. This fact must be recognized if user demands for both mobile communications and broadcast services . are to be met in the years ahead. Such recognition can result in arrangements whereby broadcasters and mobile operators can coexist in the same spectrum while aiding one another economically. This paper discusses this problem and some engineering solutions for the period out to (and beyond) the year 2000.
