Abstract :
An estimate of the carrier phase offset of a linearly modulated signal is found by the method of least squares (LS) and maximum likelihood estimate (MLE). Error variance of the estimate achieves the modified Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) at high SNR. Also a comparison of the two estimates, LS and ML, for the phase offset is presented.
