Abstract :
The electrical industry has demonstrated an interest in applying bar code technology to distribution transformers. A comprehensive scheme relative to distribution transformer bar codes is presented in support of ongoing efforts by both EEI and NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers´ Association) to develop guidelines for bar coding distribution transformers. Specific requirements including bar coded information, longevity, location, format, symbology, and density are addressed. General guidance is provided to transformer manufacturers and users for planning and specifying distribution transformer bar codes
