Abstract :
The theory and demonstration of a novel scheme for performing two-input binary logic operations with a bistable etalon are reported. The scheme employs two edge-injected CO laser beams to control the reflectivity of an InSb etalon. The control beams serve as the inputs to the logic device, while the output is provided by the reflected beam. The application of such a device to two-dimensional array processing is discussed.
