Abstract :
An analysis of the output of an acousto-optic bistable device is presented in relation to the modes arising from the linear stability analysis of the equation describing the system. The second mode is shown to undergo a period-doubling sequence when the first mode is selectively attenuated. Finally, periodic oscillations occuring inside the chaotic domain are described in terms of coupling between these modes.
