Abstract
A detailed three-dimensional analysis of the heat-spreading process in the Burrus-type light-emitting diode is carried out in the present work. The assumptions of the thermal model of the diode are based on the results of the analog electrical model of the heat spreading within the volume of the diode. A solution of the thermal conduction equation is obtained by means of the Green´s function method. The resultant exact formulas describe temperature profiles within the diode volume as a function of the construction parameters and of the supply power only.
