Abstract :
Based upon a sample of 125 distributions of impulsive power-line noise taken near an HVDC converter station, this paper presents experimental confirmation of Cook´s method of calculating the quasi-peak voltage from the Amplitude Probability Distributions. The calculated values compare with measured values to within ± 2 dB. Values for the ratio of quasi-peak to rms voltage levels were found to be 12 dB ± 2 dB for these types of power-line noise.
