Abstract
A description is given of a device for the investigation of the influence of the mechanical stresses on training and critical parameters of superconducting windings placed in an external magnetic field of up to 4.5 T. The test coil diameter is about 650 mm. The maximum value of the effective tension is more than 1000 MPa. The results of a preliminary test on the thin coil (a1=325 mm, a 2=328 mm, 2b =18 mm) with a stainless steel bobbin and bandage under tangential tension are presented
