Abstract
A new ac plasma display technique is described in which the alternating sustain function is achieved on the back or substrate glass surface and the
selected write-addressing uses a transparent front cover electrode and a substrate electrode. The three-electrode-per-pel structure achieves high overall emission efficiency as a result of nonshielded sustain discharges and low electrode capacitances.
