Abstract :
Diode pumped continuous wave laser oscillation at wavelengths between 1.9 and 2.1 μm in a thulium doped silica fibre that uses Bragg reflectors for cavity feedback is reported. These lasers exhibit low pump power thresholds and quantum efficiencies close to unity
