Abstract :
A modular and flexible architecture for real-time image template matching is presented here. The architecture is mainly constructed of only three basic pipelined modules. Its advantages are: (1) serial data inputs both for template and search images; (2) flexibility in adapting to the dimensional change of search image via simple control; (3) real-time performance at least for 512×512 search image; (4) low I/O pin counts and high degree of modularity and regularity so as to be suitable for VLSI implementation; and (5) simple system control circuits
