Abstract :
The test facility and the procedures used to characterize two full-scale copper-stabilized cable-in-conduit superconductors are described. The critical current at 1.8 K was 280 kA at a total field of 5.8 T, 260 kA at 6.4 T, and 215 kA at 7.4 T. The stability margin at 200 kA and 4 to 5 T was 70 to 80 mJ/cm3 of metal. No significant performance degradation was observed after more than 600 load cycles
