Abstract :
A transformer computer design aid is presented that was developed for use at switching frequencies above 100 kHz where the classical method of using the saturation constraint results in an over-heated transformer due to excessive core loss. Flux density is selected instead by an optimization procedure that minimizes total transformer losses. Key equations used in the design procedure are developed. Emphasis is placed on the algorithm used in the transformer design procedure.
