Abstract
The author briefly discusses the development of mobile radio and its various applications for two-way communication. The author then goes on to discuss paging services which are used for giving short messages or for alerting the receiver and are one-way only. Trunking systems for sharing the available channels is discussed as is tunnel communication. The use of telephone systems fitted in aircraft and trains, and future personal units for mobile communication are also described
