Abstract :
The power loss of fast-speed thyristors is relatively high, especially for higher blocking voltage devices. High-power asymmetrical thyristors will reduce the power loss up to 40 percent. The newly developed high-power asymmetrical thyristors and their trade-offs are discussed.
