Abstract :
A new method is presented for calculating the fundamental mode and all the higher order guided modes in optical fibers and waveguides. This method, which is referred to as "slowly decaying imaginary distance beam propagation method," has been demonstrated to be very accurate and efficient by applying it to analyze well-known guided wave devices.
