Title :
Technology ´88: the main event [superconductivity]
Abstract :
The discovery in 1987 of a class of ceramic materials that remain superconducting up to liquid-nitrogen temperatures is reviewed. The problems that must be resolved before the materials can be used in practical applications are described. Current research directions are noted.<>
