Abstract
The author discusses the landfill site at Little Packington near Birmingham which is used to generate more than 4 MW of electricity. The development of the site since 1973 is discussed including environmental concerns and the use of the biogas produced to generate electricity. The author then discusses the process of extracting the gas from gas arrays and its utilisation in a gas turbine driven generator. The costs and future prospects of the Little Packington landfill-gas recovery scheme are also discussed
