Abstract :
In this letter, we propose a novel Markov chain model for IEEE 802.11 WLAN, considering a commonly used data rate switching mechanism. In the proposed model, both collision and transmission errors are considered. The performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF (distributed coordination function) is analyzed using the proposed model. The accuracy of the proposed model is verified by simulation.
