Abstract
The relationships between standards organizations is expected to change as service boundaries rapidly become vague and media become unified. The collaboration between these organizations and the generation of common texts on recommendations/standards has already begun. This report surveys several standardization activities that have been focusing on new trends in telecommunication technologies and services brought about by remarkable technical advances. It describes what is happening in the areas of network technologies and new services, what standards have been established, and what is expected in the near future.<>
