Abstract :
Industry, with its greater complexity, is demanding higher standards from its managers. This Paper attempts to analyse the problem and suggest a possible answer, by first defining the professions of production engineering and management. Then, the source of men and their training to fill these positions are discussed. The combination of the personal qualities and technical abilities used in the practice of the profession of production engineering suggests that here is the manager of the future.
