Abstract :
A spatial filtering technique to generate a display of the deflection function of an optical-fiber preform is described. The deflection function can be used to reconstruct the refractive-index profile of the preform. A direct control of angular and spatial resolution makes it possible to get an optimal display. Experimental results for both step-and graded-index preforms are presented.
