Abstract :
The author gives an overview of the latest developments in communications. The main features being: Internet access over TV cables; TV signals transmitted over power and phone lines; cheap phone like service over the Internet; and wireless networks including the Internet. Multimedia media, ISDN, virtual LANs, next generation Internet protocol, wireless telephony, and network security are discussed.
