Abstract :
The time-dependent electromagnetic field of a magnetic sample mounted in vibrating, rotating, and spinning sample coil magnetometers is modeled using stationary oscillating current multipolar arrays. Suitable detection coil geometries and low-eddy-current cryostat designs follow as a natural and simple consequence of knowledge of the electromagnetic field of the sample analog. The simpler nature of the external time-dependent electric (rather than magnetic) field is a particularly useful feature of the model.
