Abstract :
Substantial progress has been made in the high-speed coating technology of optical fibers, achieving line speeds greater than 10 m/s. The optical characteristics of high-speed coated single-mode fibers were evaluated based on a total length of 90 km; each continuous length drawn from a preform was approximately 10 km. The mechanical properties of the fibers were also examined by prooftesting the fibers at two different stress levels (0.7 and 1.4 GN/m2).
