Abstract
Corrosion rate is determined by electrochemical impedance of corroding metal. Its value can be evaluated by measurements of naturally generated by corrosion processes, voltage, and current fluctuations (electrochemical noise). The analysis method of the observed electrochemical noise for polarization resistance estimation is presented in detail, and its performance in practice is discussed. Algorithm of electrochemical noise detrending, based on wavelet transform, is applied. Noise sources caused by corrosion processes are recognized by assuming a noise circuit of the electrode set used in the measurements. The quality of noise source identification is considered as well.
