  • Abstract
This paper presents a general analytical method for determining the unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) produced in three-phase induction motors with an eccentric rotor. The model uses the conformal transformation technique coupled to a winding impedance approach that is capable of accommodating any stator winding connection. The paper examines the influence of using parallel stator winding paths as a means of reducing the resultant UMP (static and pulsating). The results clearly demonstrate the significant reduction of static UMP of a typical stator winding with parallel paths together with the unbalanced winding currents that are produced
