Abstract :
A semi-infinite medium is considered with complex permittivity and permeability. In addition to a discussion of the skin depth and phase depth, two new definitions are introduced, absorption capacity and absorption effectiveness, which enable absorption performance to be computed. Results for absorption and reflection are presented for 0< epsilon <10/sup 5/ epsilon /sub 0/, 10/sup -5/ >
