Abstract
A review of the basic tools of kinematics widely used by aerospace engineers is presented. Two different approaches are discussed. One is the familiar "vectorial mechanics," while the other is called the "variational method." It is indicated that either approach should produce the same set of motion equations for the dynamical system considered.
