Abstract :
The problem of designing optimum weighting functions subject to peak amplitude and effective radiated voltage constraints occurs in the design of active phased arrays and in spectrum control of high-pulse-repetition frequency (PRF) pulsed Doppler transmitters. Algorithms for generating such weighting functions are developed using a least-squares technique. Numerical results are presented which show that these algorithms yield substantial performance improvement over textbook weighting functions in favorable circumstances.
