Abstract :
The application of a multivariable output feedback controller to damp the interarea oscillations of a power system consisting of three equivalent generators, each equipped with an exciter, a power system stabilizer, and a prime-mover with governor, is addressed. The multivariable controller uses projective controls and coordinates readily available measurements with control signals applied to the exciter and governor models. It is demonstrated that the dynamic response of the power system is greatly improved by the multivariable controller.<>
