Abstract :
A polarisation-insensitive semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) module with a net gain of 22 dB is demonstrated. High numerical aperture, low aberration aspheric glass moulded lenses are efficiently used for optical coupling between the SOA chip and singlemode fibres.
