Abstract :
The engineering design of an ignition scale fusion reactor is underway with worldwide participation. The project is located at three sites and carried out by people seconded as Joint Central Team members. Technical support is provided by four Home Teams. The superconducting cells for the system will require about 1600 tonnes of Nb3Sn strand and will be the largest ever built. The features of the magnet designs and of the R&D program that is underway are described
