Abstract :
Television, voice and data are no longer unique; they are all simply zeroes and ones which a computer has created and which another computer will reassemble at the end of the transmission. The medium no longer determines the message. In an information society, it is the message that is supreme. The new Information Age also places a higher responsibility upon consumers of information. We must become our own filters, replacing the function previously performed by others with our own individual resourcefulness. All of us must learn that the information delivered by the new technologies is a work in progress.
