Abstract :
From the viewpoint of distribution at the steady state in conducting cable, we investigate the inter-strand coupling, which affects the fundamental properties of the conductor such as AC loss and current distribution. We introduce an approximate analytical expression for a uniform current distribution in the superconducting cable. Next, we examine the dependence of the change of the current distribution on the main factors of the inter-strand coupling such as the inter-strand contact resistance and the structure of the conductor. We obtain useful information on the conductor design so as to have a uniform current distribution. It is also shown that the intensity of the inter-strand coupling can be estimated by measuring the change of the current distribution
