Abstract :
Analytical expressions are obtained for the optimal radial distribution of the internal reinforcement in coils for strong pulsed magnetic fields. The internal reinforcement in these coils is distributed such that the stress level is the same throughout the coil. Predictions of the performance of layer by layer reinforced coils are derived on basis of the analytical results, i.e., there is a universal relation between the amount of reinforcement and the maximum magnetic field
