Abstract :
Linear permanent magnet brushless DC motor (LPMBLDCM) has the advantage of high flux density, high energy efficiency, simple structure and other characteristics, which is suitable for high speed and high thrust output applications. It is also used as an electromagnetic catapult to be applied to small and medium sized aircraft launch. This paper focuses on the effect of mover magnetic structure on magnetic-dynamic performance for the moving magnet type LPMBLDCM, including serial flux structure, parallel flux structure and Halbach flux structure. The dynamic process for three magnetic structure LPMBLDCM are analyzed by Maxwell-2D transient solver. The influence of magnetic structure on flux density in the air-gap, on the back EMF, on the mover speed and thrust output are analyzed. The performance characteristics for three magnetic structure LPMBLDCM are contrasted. The results with the optimized design provide a catapult moving magnet LPMBLDCM and other reference and guidance for the research. Simulated and measured results can provide useful references to optimized design and prototype mating for electromagnetic catapult.
