Abstract :
The story of the struggle between Fairchild Instruments and Texas Instruments for the contract to supply the integrated circuitry for Polaroid´s SX-70 camera, introduced in 1972, is related. Research and development work by both companies is described. The problems caused by Polaroid´s secrecy regarding the overall camera design are highlighted.<>
