Abstract
A terahertz imaging technique to detect the basal cell carcinoma in skin is proposed. In order to facilitate the proposed imaging process, a simple stratified media model of the human skin based on the Bruggeman mixing formula is developed. The qualitative image of various layers of the skin along the depth is obtained using the proposed technique. The detection of the basal cell carcinoma is based on the substantial difference in the reconstructed permittivity profile of the infected skin as compared to that of the healthy skin.
