Abstract :
A mathematical method using linear algebra is developed for generating interference-free simplex channel assignment grids for base stations in the VHF land mobile band for large urban areas. The frequency assignment model checks for interference from adjacent channels, desensitization, transmitter intermodulation, and receiver intermodulation. The basic philosophy of the model is presented, and the required electromagnetic compatibility computations are reviewed. Both single-frequency and multiple-frequency (sharing) assignment strategies are described
