Abstract
If antenna factors are to be properly applied, then all power losses from the antenna to the receiver must be properly accounted for. This paper presents generally applicable mathematical characterizations of the antenna factor with which to properly account for all such losses. Examples are given for two different antennas, each having well-known physical and electrical characteristics. Also, a measurement procedure is described with which to obtain the antenna factors of antennas for which insufficient information is available for mathematical analysis.
