  • Abstract
    The goal of this project is to establish a roadmap for photonics and nanotechnologies that includes technologies, fabrication processes, and applications as well as research needs for the future. One of the nanophotonics challenges is to coordinate efforts in order to create synergies between different applications. This could be accomplished by common R&D, design and manufacturing for nanophotonic devices that are similar for different final application fields. Nanophotonics is an apparent opportunity for several industry sectors: photonics, microelectronics, equipment manufacturers, and materials providers. We have carried out analysis in order to identify those applications where photonics and nanotechnologies will have the highest impact in terms of market volume and growth rate, taking into account the level of risk in bringing technology from the laboratory to the marketplace.
