  • Abstract
Bounds on the energy that can be transmitted through an aperture have been calculated for a rectangular RF pulse, a damped-sine pulse and an inverse exponential pulse. The bound obtained for the penetration of the rectangular RF (radar) pulse is shown to be the sum of two terms; the first representing the energy that would be transmitted if the pulse was monochromatic and the second representing a correction for the distribution of frequencies that results from the finite duration of the pulse
